Yankee Game Day: Trip Report Day 5

Thanks for hanging in with me through my loooonnnnggggg trip report. Since being home though, life keeps getting in the way of writing these out.

We had tickets for the afternoon game Yankees vs. Indians. We%26#39;re from Ohio and my husband, lets just say uh, dislikes (understatement) the Yankees. However, he loves baseball and he couldn%26#39;t pass up the chance to see a game in The House That Ruth Built. It also helped that they were playing a team from Ohio ;) We were sure to leave early, subway directions in hand. On the trip to the stadium, we spent much of the ride in a car totally by ourselves. We wondered about that because I thought there would be tons of fans onboard with us. We immediately headed for Stan%26#39;s Bar across from the stadium...thanks everyone on here for that tip! We were able to get a table and the place very quickly filled up with fans. This was the place that had the best burgers on our burger quest! They were chargrilled to perfection! We also had a show with our lunch when a man and his young son got locked in the men%26#39;s room....it took 2 bartenders and a lot of laughing on everyone%26#39;s part before they finally knocked the door down to free the prisoners. My husband bought a tee shirt and we headed into the stadium. We enjoyed the game, especially the ground crew halfway through the game who dragged the field while dancing to YMCA.

The subway trip back was incredible! We were packed in tightly and loved every second. Everyone was friendly and talking. We rested for a bit at the hotel then headed down to the Village. We had a nice pizza at Patsy%26#39;s Pizza and spent a couple of hours strolling around and hanging out at Washington Square Park.

more to follow....

Yawn - how uneventful.

Just kidding! Glad you had a great day. Thanks again for the chapters. Looking forward to more!

Yankee Game Day: Trip Report Day 5

I love my visits to Yankee Stadium ( the YMCA thing makes me smile every time) but haven%26#39;t been to a pub beforehand. Thanks for the tip.

Daisie, we really enjoyed the atmosphere in Stan%26#39;s. It was just fun and laid back. The bar doesn%26#39;t have seats, you just stand but we were at a booth which is more like a picnic table. It was neat for us because this is the only place we got to see the elevated train and it%26#39;s directly outside over the street.

Stan%26#39;s was one of the highlights of our trip when we saw the Yankees last fall. It was also one of the LOUDEST places I have ever been- Yankee fans can make a lot of noise outside of the stadium as well as in it! All of your reports have been terrific- thanks for sharing all of your experiences.
