Brooklyn Tabernacle

My daughter and I want to spend a Sunday in Brooklyn when we are in NYC in early Sept. Our plan is to attend the 3:30 service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle, so we%26#39;ll need to arrange everything else around that. I%26#39;ve been reading the posts (all very helpful, as usual!) but I haven%26#39;t seen anything about what to wear to the church service. We%26#39;re thinking that we%26#39;ll plan to get to Brooklyn early enough to walk along the Promenade, cameras ready for some great shots of the city! Then we%26#39;ll have lunch, maybe at Junior%26#39;s? before going to church. Afterwards, we want to walk back across the Brooklyn Bridge. So.... with all that walking, I sure don%26#39;t think we can manage church dresses and heels! We could possibly carry some other shoes with us and change from our walking shoes before church, but I%26#39;d like to make sure that it will be appropriate

to wear pants. From the posts, it looks like others of you have combined a church service at the BT with some sightseeing, so maybe you can give me some advice! Thanks so much!

Brooklyn Tabernacle

Howdy! I%26#39;m from Dallas and now live in NYC and attend BT. It is a very lovely church that accepts everyone with open arms. There is a wide variety of people in the congregation - from ladies in %26#39;get-ups%26#39; with hats and all to young people in jeans. I think if you wear pants/capris like khakis/chinos and you can change from your tennis shoes for service, you will feel right at home. Dresses are so not necessary and neither are heels - nice flat sandals in early sept. should be great.

I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ve looked on the website - the 3:30 service is more laid back with a guest speaker or a choir concert, where as the earlier services are praise and worship [singing and preaching.]

Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless!

Brooklyn Tabernacle

If I were you, I would e-mail the BT and ask them what they consider appropriate attire by ladies. While visitors may show up in all sorts of attire, the church itself may prefer something else for reasons of modesty or custom. It would therefore be polite to ask.

Thanks so much for the help! I did go ahead and send an e-mail to the Brooklyn Tabernacle about what is appropriate to wear to a service, but I haven%26#39;t heard back yet. And I appreciate the ';inside info'; from a member of the congregation! (Howdy right back at ya!) We are really looking forward to the BT church service!

Well, well, well, HELLO DOLLY!!!

Long time, no hear, (thank goodness).
