Hi, we are planning a trip to NYC this July.
We are interested in staying at Hotel (Marriott New York Financial Center) located at Downtown NYC OR apartment Central Park located at Upper West Side.
We can%26#39;t decided which one is the best for us (first time to new york).
Any suggestion???
Thanks in advance.
where to stay in NYC
I just love the upper west side, and especially in July when there are so many things to do in Central Park. Then again, there%26#39;s a lot happening downtown. It%26#39;s hard to choose without knowing what UWS hotel you%26#39;re considering.

It%26#39;s impossible to advise you without knowing who you are, what you plan to do etc. If you say the typical tourist stuff that doesn%26#39;t help either. Most of the typical tourist stuff is either midtown (where neither of these options are located) or downtown, but not necessarily near the financial center. Also, without knowing anything about the apt. come on, no way to advise.
Unless you invest some time and energy communicating to us how you chose these 2 options and what you plan for your trip, there%26#39;s no way for us to help.
Hi, thanks for your reply. I appreciated.
We would like to stay in a hotel which is close to most of the tourist attractions if possible because we have an elder traveling with us.
I thought most of the tourist attractions are located around the downdown or the upper west side area, therefore i am only doing the hotel search around these areas.
Apparently i was wrong. I will starting looking at the hotel around midtown.
Thanks again.

Still not sure about your budget or expectations. So this info may or may not not be helpful. I stayed on the Upper West Side a couple of summers ago at The Lucerne. Prices and service were good. Hotel was not elegant but very clean, adequate air conditioning and in a great neighborhood. Easy access to anywhere in NYC using public transport and cabs. Easy walk to Cental Park and Midtown. Loved the community!
