Best places to eat in NYC?

Hi, I am travelling to New York in late December with my girlfriend. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some nice resturants or places to dine etc. We are both 21 and will be staying near the central park area and this is our first time to New York.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Any tips/advice would also be useful.

Central Park is 843 acres, so you could travel miles and still be near it. So be a little more specific about where you%26#39;re staying so we can recommend places nearby.

Check the sticky at the top of the page called ';Restaurant Hot List';. This has pages and pages of wonderful suggestions. You may want to post what types of food you like as well.

If you like French food, I have two suggestions for bistros that are not too expensive. There%26#39;s one called Lucien. I wrote a review for it on this site, so you could go see it and get more info.

There%26#39;s a place with live jazz called Jules (65 St Mark%26#39;s place).

Both places are in the east village/lower east side. It is not near where you are staying but public transportation in New York is good so you can go back to your hotel after dinner without complication.

In regard to restaurants, ';nice'; generally means ';elegant and pricey';, while ';both 21'; suggests that you may not care for things that are TOO elegant and TOO expensive.
