Vegetarian dining

Hey, wonder if anyone can help me?

I%26#39;m spending a week in New York at the end of August and I%26#39;d like some recommendations on vegetarian and veggie friendly restaurants. I%26#39;m vegetarian,my boyfriend who I%26#39;m travelling with is not, so I%26#39;m ideally looking for vegetarian restaurants that have menus that will also appeal to meat eaters - ie. nothing too %26#39;hippy%26#39; and also for restaurants that serve meat but also have a good range of vegetarian dishes.

I%26#39;ve had a look at menupages.com but there are so many restaurants I%26#39;d like to at least narrow it down to a smaller list of recommended places before doing the final research myself. We are staying just half a block from Times Square but we%26#39;re happy to explore the city so location isn%26#39;t that important. As far as price is concerned we can afford to splash out a couple of nights but don%26#39;t want to spend a fortune on food if we can help it.

Thanks guys!!!

Vegetarian dining

Hi, I am a vegetarian and my husband isn%26#39;t - I didn%26#39;t have any problems finding something to eat at all of the restaurants we went to last week - we went to Rosie O%26#39;Gradys, O%26#39;Lunney%26#39;s, Grimaldi%26#39;s, Two Boots Pizza, and Trattoria Trecolori. (I do eat fish though)

I traveled to New York in December 2004 with 4 vegetarian friends. We stumbled upon this restaurant find in SoHo:

Spring Street Natural Restaurant

212.966.0290 (breakfast - dinner)

62 Spring Street (at Lafayette Street)

Its affordable and the selection was great. I%26#39;m not a vegetarian, but found many options that I found appealing. I%26#39;m traveling to New York in two weeks and will try again. Hopefully it%26#39;s just as good the second time around.

There are a number of Bhuddist vegetarian restaurants in Chinatown (especially in the area of Mott and Pell), with fake ';meat'; made of tofu cooked in the way that the usual Chinese dishes are made -- in some cases it is quite convincing.

these places are delicious. the first one, pure food and wine, is the nicest restaurant. it%26#39;s a beautiful atmosphere, a little hip but very relaxed, and the staff is so friendly. they have the BEST white sangria i%26#39;ve ever had!
