Can anyone recommend hotels in New York and what area would be the best to stay in? We are traveling to NY for the NY Marathon in November.
Thanks
New York hotelsPrice range? Ages? Interests? do you have any idea which area you fancy staying in?
New York hotelsIf you are going to be taking one of the Marathon buses to the starting line, you might think about a hotel near the bus pickup point(s). I believe in the past the buses have left from the main NY Public Libray, at 5th Av. and 42nd Street, which is in midtown. Check your marathon materials for current info. Perhaps you could find a hotel that is near both the bus departure point and the end of the race in Central Park. If the buses are still leaving from the library, I would say any midtown hotel in the mid 40s to the mid 50s betwen Park Avenue on the East Side and 7th Avenue on the westside would be fairly convenient for both the beginning and the end of the day, with the hotels near 5th and 6th avenues being particularly convenient..
And wherever you decide to stay, book soon, as hotels fill up quickly for that period.
the library hotel (near the public library) is supposed to be a really nice hotel. It is part of the HK chain and you get a continental breakfast, free coffee/cookies/bottled water all day long and a cheese and wine service from 5 to 8 in the evening. I stayed at the Giraffe hotel, which is part of the HK chain, and it was a great experience. If I%26#39;m not mistaken, their 4 hotels are in the top 15 hotels on trip advisor.
Prices are really crazy for that weekend. The best area at this point is any place in Manhattan between South Ferry and the north end of the park.
