6 days to go... NY here we come!!!!!

A whole 8 months ago we posted our first topic on this FAB site, Now we only have 6 days before we take our 8 hour flight for our 1st trip to NYC.

A holiday of a lifetime - 14 days in the Big Apple woohooo.

(why is it called the big apple?)

We are staying in the Millenum Hilton, taking a helicopter flight, watching the fireworks on 4th July while celebrating our 2nd wedding annversary %26amp; Hubbys 40th birthday on the 4th too.

OK, so we are are tourists and will be seeing the sights etc, but hope to see the real New York too.

The sights, the smells, the noise, people watching, the subways, the taxis, the food, the cinamon pretzels mmmm (can you tell we are excited?)

China Town, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Times Square, TSOL, Central Park, Museums, Brooklyn Bridge, The Empire State Building, Grand Central, Coney Island, Brighton Beach, the list is endless!!!

We will of course post pictures, do a hotel report %26amp; trip report on our return, but for now we would like to say thanks for the interesting %26amp; informing posts on here %26amp; to every one who has helped us plan our holiday.

Pip %26amp; Dazza :-)

http://www.askanewyorker.com/faq.php This gives some really good ideas on the Big Apple question, and a link to a great page.

Yes, your excitement is coming through! 14 days will be fabulous as you%26#39;ll not have to do the headless chicken thing and will be able to relax and enjoy the city. Have a great time, and I%26#39;m really looking forward to hearing(and hopefully seeing?) all about it. Enjoy it.

Oh - you%26#39;re almost here! You%26#39;ll have a fabulous trip. Have you made any arrangements to see any shows? Enjoy yourselves and I look forward to reading your trip report. Ta. MMM!

Just a couple of suggestions - make sure you have at least 2 pair of broken in comfy walking shoes - switching between them will help your feet and NYC requires a whole lot of walking on unforgiving concrete!

Also, it is going to be hot while you%26#39;re here - and also humid. Bring a comfy hat with some sort of visor so you can keep some of the sun off your face (or pick up one soon after landing here - street vendors sell baseball caps for $5-10 - just make sure it%26#39;s a light color so it doesn%26#39;t make your head even warmer!)

And also bring or pick up here some bottled water and some wet wipes - they are refreshing and in the heat and humidity so very welcome.

Enjoy. Ta. MMM!

Have a great time!! It sounds like its going to be the holiday of a lifetime-I would love to be going in six days

Have a wonderful trip, and I agree with the other poster, make sure you drink plenty of water, have sunscreen %26amp; light clothing.

And, of course, THE SHOES!!!!

Please report back, or even during if you need some advice, would love to hear about your trip.

Fantastic! You%26#39;ve been planning for a while. Hope you have a wonderful time. If you%26#39;re around on Thursday, come join us to hear Audra McDonald at SummerStage.
