Suites Near Times Square

We are currently booked at the Belvedere but I am worried that the room may be a bit small; we have one room for me, my husband, baby, and mother-in-law and then another room for my two older children and my parents.

But now I am thinking may be too close for comfort; maybe a suite would be better but wow are they expensive or booked....

We are coming to NYC 8/2-8/4.

Any help?????

Maybe you just need one extra room with 2 beds at the Belvedere, for your mother-in-law. You%26#39;d have a lot more flexibility of which kid slept where each night, and an extra bathroom can%26#39;t hurt with all those people.

8 people even in a suite is a bit much too. Even in a 2 bedroom suite, that%26#39;s a lot of people. I%26#39;d say 2 one bedroom suites would be better, unless you want to attempt a 3 bedroom apartment (and give up daily maid service etc.)

At the Salisbury on 8/2-4, a one bedroom suite with a king bed and a sofabed is $234/night OR one bedroom suite with 2 double beds and sofabed is $284/night.(on their own website nycsalisbury.com) The Salisbury also has 2 bedroom/ 2 bath suites but I believe those have to be booked by phone. I think though for everyone%26#39;s sanity, you need at least 2 different suites.

A one bedroom suite at the Beekman Tower hotel is $199/night on quikbook, but only with 1 bed and sofabed.

You might be able to find a 3 bedroom apt. but I think it would be hard for just 2 nights. Most of the larger apts. have minimum rentals. You could try an inn like 1871 House and get a few rooms there. They have availablility but you%26#39;d have to find out whether they%26#39;d take the baby and how many of you would fit in their various suites.

You might want to try the Radio City Apartments. They do not have the amenities of many of the hotels (i.e. no conceirge) but they are a great value. For the prices referenced above, you could probably get a two bedroom suite and a one bedroom suite. Your parents, mother in law and one of the older children could be in the two bedroom suite and you, your husband, baby and other older child could be in the one bedroom. The suites are imaculate and the bathrooms are new. It is in a older building so on first blush it doesn%26#39;t appear as nice as the other hotels. But, the rooms are wonderful and again, an amazing value. Moms

We just came back from the Belvedere and it was great, but the room would be cramped with four people. HOWEVER, remember you will be spending very little time in the room! The kitchens in the Belvedere rooms are a real plus, also. A lot depends on what activities you are planning. The Belvedere is smack in the middle of the theatre district.

Another hotel to consider is the Hotel Metro. It has a family suite that has a room with two full beds, with another room with a queen bed. You might be able to put yourself and your husband in the room with the queen, your mother-in-law and the baby and one of the older children in the room with the two fulls, then book a two double room for your parents and one other child. It would give you more flexibility, anyway. The Metro has a continental breakfast, too, which is nice. It is very close to a subway stop (near Macy%26#39;s), and has a spectacular view of the Empire State Building from the terrace. I%26#39;d call them, though, because on reading their website they now say 3 people max for the family suite (we had 4 in ours back in 2001)

The Hotel Beacon on the Upper West Side is supposed to be excellent for families and has a summer special going. It is very close to the Museum of Natural History. Here is the Frommer review:

Be sure to check travelzoo.com for NYC specials. There are a lot of specials in August.
