Hi all,
I am going to NYC with the family for Christmas. Just got an e-mail from RCMH that said tickets for the Christmas Spec. go on sale today. I went to buy but realized I need a bit of advice on seating.
I am bringing my kids (ages 5 and 7) so I really don%26#39;t want to sit in the Orchestra. I know from experience it is better for them to look down at the stage. There is a $35.00 per ticket difference between the 1st and 2nd Mezzanine. Worth it?
Also my original thought was to go to the show on Christmas day....but understandably those tickets are at a premium. If we go instead on Dec. 22, the best seats are $85.00 vs $150.00 for Christmas Day show. So if we don%26#39;t go to the show on Christmas Day, anyone have suggestions of fun things to do to make that day really festive and memorable?
Also, anyone have a website that lists the churches in Manhattan. I know it is way early but I am trying to stay organized. We will want to attend services on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Looking for a Lutheran (or Episcopalian) church, preferably within walking distance or short cab ride of our hotel (near Bryant Park).
Radio City Christmas Spectacular
There should be discounts available for some shows. I think in Sept. there are 2 for 1 discounts. I wouldn%26#39;t rush to buy full price tickets now. If you do a text search here for christmas spectacular discounts there should be some info.
The church on 5th ave %26amp; 53 st. has a great choir and is Episcopal. St. Thomas

Interesting. I was under the apparently misguided notion that this show always sold out and that I should buy tickets ASAP.
Thanks for the church listings, they both look wonderful.
The theater is huge. If your%26#39;e fussy about what show you go to (day and time) by all means buy at full price. But if you%26#39;re willing to go to an early or late show, there are usually discounts to be had. I think broadwaybox.com was one place with a discount code. You can also sometimes get the tkts at the TKTS booths.
For anyone traveling here over Thanksgiving....buy your tickets NOW. Those shows absolutely, positively will sell out. (Usually.)
Broadway Box is a good source for discount tickets, but these are usually for the matinees. We enjoyed the matinee that we attended.
If you do not attend Radio on Christmas day, check to see if the ice skating rink is open in Central Park. We did this on Christmas Eve and really enjoyed it. Although we also skated at Rockefeller, we preferred the one in the park.
Thanks for everone%26#39;s replies. I decided to go ahead and book the seats now. I wanted to get good seats so that t I could be sure the would be able to see wel (no tall people in front of them)l. i was able to get the front row seats of the 1st mezzanine just to the left of center. . I did end of buying tickets for an earlier date (earky show on Dec 22) because the prices were so much less. I am sure we will have plenty to do to fill our time on Christmas. Thanks again everyone.
Hi Kellyc, can you tell me which site you used to book the tickets?
Myself %26amp; a group of girl friends are heading to NYC at the beginning of December. We%26#39;re planning on catching one of the shows. Looks fantastic !
Re-living our childhoods :)
