We%26#39;re finally heading to NY next week. We%26#39;ll be in the Big Apple for 1 week.
I%26#39;m assuming the subway system has weekly passes. Can anyone tell me:
1) where to buy them
2) which one I should buy (is there more than 1 option)
3) how much are they?
thanks!
Ladena
ps - the taxis from JFK, will they take 4 people in one cab? I%26#39;ve heard the flat rate is $45 including tolls, is this still true?
Subway optionsYou can buy MetroCards in a number of places, although subway stations are the most obvious. There are several options (unlimited use, and pay-per-ride), and the price depends on what you get.
Does that sound pretty confusing? MTA New York City Transit has all the information you are looking for (plus lots more) at this site:

Just go down the whole list, clicking on all the buttons.
Taxis will take 4 people. The flat rate does NOT include tolls, and it does not include the tip. As the passenger you have the right to determine the route, although sometimes the toll crossings are very much to be preferred to the free ones.
Subway optionsParticularly if you%26#39;re arriving at night, request that your cab come into Manhattan via the 59th Street Bridge. It%26#39;s free, so is often more crowded than the toll options. But the view of the glittering skyline is wonderful.
Hi, this is a good website for giving you tips and various methods of travel/options for cards, etc.

As far as I%26#39;m aware, $45 from JFK to Manhattan sounds about right and remember to include a tip. However, there is a option of getting a transfer by a more luxury car ie Sedan and this costs roughly the same as you would pay for a taxi, so is maybe a better option for your group.

If you are going to be travelling about the city on the bus and subway that it makes most sense to get the 1 week unlimited Metro card which you can purchase in any subway station by a credit or debit card. This allows unlimited number of uses for a day, a 7 day week or a 30 day month. Some news stands also sell the various metro cards. Do check out the sites suggested above and evaluate what your needs are.
Ta. MMM!
