I've dragged this out long enough: Report Days 6 and 7

We had nothing planned for our last two days in the city so we just explored. We did get up early on Friday to try to see a bit of Earth, Wind, and Fire outside the Today show. We were able to watch the drummer from the back and saw the top of Matt Lauer%26#39;s head as he walked through the crowd. Does that count as a celebrity sighting??? :) We then went inside Rockefeller Center and decided to take the NBC Tour. We got our tickets and had about 2 hours to kill so we started walking. We ended up at a Starbucks in Time Square where we had a coffee and watched the world go by for a bit. Then we wandered into the Diamond District and down the street past Tiffanies, Gucci, and all those other rich stores. I had been majorly traumatized by a short visit into Saks 5th Avenue....talk about feeling totally out of place....so there was no way I was going into any of those other stores! But we did go into Trump Tower in search of a bathroom. So I can say I pottied in the Donald%26#39;s place.

We really enjoyed the NBC Tour mainly because the 2 pages who guided us around were so funny. They did an excellent job. If you do this tour try to find out if Ryan and Adam are doing it. Afterward, we ate at Two Boots and this was for us the best pizza we had . The slices were huge and very tasty. We topped it off with ice cream from Baskin Robbins then waddled back to the hotel for a brief rest.

That evening we headed back to our favorite neighborhood, the Village, and had a nice dinner at Slade. My streak wrap was especially good and the people watching was fun. We walked around for a bit I believe into west village where there are some very upscale apartment buildings. Norm McDonald, from SNL, walked past us carrying one of those fold up razor scooters with his son following along. So celebrity sighting #3 for us! When we entered the subway to head back to the hotel, there was a band performing who were quite good. We listened for a bit then bought a cd which we have been listening too a lot since coming home.

On Saturday, we went to the Murray Hill Street Fair where I bought a lovely necklace and 3 purses. We also went into Macy%26#39;s and spent a few minutes riding up and down the wooden escalators. I ended up in H%26amp;M and I have to say it%26#39;s a good thing there%26#39;s not one of those here! My credit card would be in big trouble. It was packed but I did manage to get a dressing room....there were several women trying on clothes right out in the store which sent my husband and son out side. I felt so sorry for the checkout girls. The scanner system was down and they were having to type in every number on every item and people had armloads of clothes. I was in line for about 30 mins. I really did enjoy the whole experience...it was so hectic and exciting! What I imagined shopping would be like in NYC.

That evening we once again ended up hanging around in Washington Square Park. There was so much going on. College kids kicking a soccer ball around, a guy performing tricks on a bike, several people singing and playing guitars, a guy doing magic tricks, and in the midst of it all, a lovely bride and her party walked through. On the subway back to the hotel, 4 gentlemen got on and started singing do-wop style and seranaded the car right to our stop! What a wonderful ending to a glorious week!

Thank you to all on here who put up with my goofy questions and provided me with so much great information. We are totally and completely in love with your city and can%26#39;t wait to come back!!

Besides, we have to master the subway system and I still have many more trash cans to stumble over!!

Enjoyed all your reports. You are either lucky regarding celebrities or you have a good eye for spotting them or maybe a bit of both.

Thanks again for the trip reports and congrats on a fun and successful trip (in both senses of the word!)
