Hey all. I%26#39;ll be visiting NYC with 11 other guys for a bachelor party in late July. We%26#39;ve got three rooms on 57th near Central Park. We, of course, are on a budget and I%26#39;d like to get a list of inexpensive, yet clean, places that we can belly up to the bar and places we can go for food. Does anyone here have a list they%26#39;d like to share or places we should most definitely stay away from? It%26#39;ll most definitely be good to get a list of places near our hotel and maybe suggestions for places that would be worth a ride on the subway or in a cab for. Thanks all.

not sure how old your group is.
Kettle of Fish in Greenwich village is cheap and oK food.
Great place for dinner is Virgil%26#39;s bbq on 44th near times square. loud, great food, $11 for pulled pork sandwich.
beers everywhere will run about $6 even at irish pubs.
look up Dive Bar in nyc on a site like, citysearch and you%26#39;ll find some good hole in the wall places. great bars though.
There%26#39;s a mexican place called El Cantinero on University place near 12th street where you eat and drink for not much. They have specials on beer and frozen margaritas on the second floor. It%26#39;s a very nice place where a lot of university students hang out.
Our ages run from 24-30...we%26#39;re still pretty young. Some of the guys are still in college mode when it comes to drinking. All of these guys can most definitely drink me under the table.
This is definitely a good start. Keep them coming.
beer gardens are lively, cheap with good food. but basically, if you go anywhere in the east village, you%26#39;ll find great bars and food. walk along 1st avenue, avenue a, b, and c btween 1st street and up and you%26#39;ll find a million places you%26#39;ll want to go into.
these are two great beer gardens:

Frankly, 57th Street is not cheap - in fact, rather swanky these days - so I%26#39;d recommend drinking in other nabes. No worries, since the subway runs all night!
Look all these up on Citysearch or Menupages. They are all over Manhattan so you%26#39;ll always have a place to hangout wherever you are.

In my college years we just ate at the vendor carts..you get amazing food for usually less than half price! They are everywhere..that way you have more money for the expensive beer in the city! Upstate beer is usually $2/bottle/draft..in the city it%26#39;s $5-$6/bottle/draft!!! Eat cheaper then go drink..stay safe and have fun!
Kennedy%26#39;s is an Irish pub on west 57th st.

McCormick %26amp; Schmick%26#39;s on 6th ave %26amp; 52 st has a very good happy hour deal. From 4-6:30 discounted drinks and bar sized plates (including burgers) for $1.95. I%26#39;ve seen lots of young people make a meal out of these appetizer plates.

57th expensive area.
definately head down to east village one night. go to st marks place. lots of cheaper bars. make a stop on mcsorley%26#39;s pub for some classic ny bar action. but kettle of fish off washington square park is a good place to hang. they even serve pitchers. have a dart board.
Ok...I did some searching on city search...has anyone ever been to the following bars/clubs?
Doc Holliday%26#39;s on Avenue A
Subway Inn on 60th...it looks like this dive will be near our hotel on 57th
Rudy%26#39;s on 9th...I beleive someone already mentioned this place
The Library on Avenue A
Bar Noneon 3rd
Pussycats
I want to make sure I have a game plan because if I don%26#39;t there will be 11 pissed off guys.
