Immigration - Republic of Ireland

Hi

My wife and children are flting into New York from Dublin with Aer Lingus - can anyone enlighten me as to the immigration procedure which I believe takes place in Ireland - their flight originates in Dublin and goes via Shannon to JFK - my question is will the US immigration take place in Dublin or Shannon?

Thanks

I would have thought in Dublin before you boarded the flight.

Do you have to disembark in Shannon?

We went through immigration in Dublin last year but it was a direct flight.

(not much help! sorry)

My parents did immigration at dublin airport-they just had to hop off the plane in Shannon and hop onto a larger plane-they were only there about 30 mins before they were off again. Not sure if that is always the way they do it.

Flew to jfk on the 17th June on the 16:45 flight and there was no immigration officers on duty, however on the 15:15 flight last year there was, it mainly involves form filling and a digital fingerprint, it should not take to long

Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies

A couple of years ago we went direct from Dublin and went through immigration in Dublin.

But this year we%26#39;re making a stop in Shannon and I just assumed we were going through immigration there [in shannon]. I%26#39;m nearly sure theres an immigration point there.

Hey ecker, two summers ago I went to Boston on my J1 and was flying from Shannon. Now, obviously I went through immigration in Shannon, but friends of mine who were going with me flew from Dublin and had to disembark and go through in Shannon. It was all the one flight (ir Dub - Shannon - Boston). I dunno if its different for NY but, there ya go!

Sounds like it will all be done at Shannon - thanks again to everyone
