Apollo Theater / Dangerfield's

Is the Apollo Theater Amateur Night something worth going to. I think it would be fun, I love music and clubs. We are trying to find some fun things to do on our two week trip to N.Y.

I hear about the Appolo all the time on Movies, but I have been told not to go there, it would not be safe for my Fiance%26#39; and I. We are caucasion but not racist at all. I was told we would not fit in.

What say you???

What about Dangerfield%26#39;s comedy club? Is it worth the time?

Apollo Theater / Dangerfield's

I have been to Dangerfields... and although the comedians were hilarious (my whole group got stomach cramps from laughing so hard), the service was horrible, and the decor was dreary. When I went there on a weekday there was one old guy working there that seemed like he should have been working for the Adam%26#39;s family rather than in a comedy club. He was pretty nasty... I had a coupon, and he wouldn%26#39;t fully honor it. (It was a buy one ticket and get one free coupon that I printed off of the web which didn%26#39;t have a limit on it, so I only printed one coupon, but he said I needed two of the coupons for 4 people.) I was ok about the policy, although I felt somewhat like I had been tricked into coming, since I wasn%26#39;t about to leave and ruin the night%26#39;s plans. But He didn%26#39;t have to be so rude about it! Anyway, the drinks were small, watered down, and waay overpriced. The good thing is that there is no drink minimum, so I wouldn%26#39;t waste my money again on a dissapointing drink there. The waiter (who was the guy from the door) never came back to see it we wanted any more drinks or if we wanted to order any food, which we would have since we got hungry. I was so dissapointed and apologized to everyone in my party for picking this comedy club, but, when it comes to the reason why we were there, to laugh and to be entertained... we definetly were! They had about 5 comedians that night, and each one was funnier than the last, and by the end of the night we didn%26#39;t care about the poor service, the rude ';doorman,'; or the shabby decor. We just couldn%26#39;t stop laughing about it for days to come. Besides that.. I have been to Caroline%26#39;s 5 years ago, and that place was more updated, and from what I remember the service was fine, and the comedians were also hilarious. What I usually do when deciding where to go is, to pick a place that has a few comedians, so you have a chance to get at least a few really funny ones. I have never been to the apollo theater, nor do I know anyone who went there. If you want to see a musical... there are so many good ones. The most recent one I saw was Mama Mia, in May, which was phenominal. It was so funny, and the actors were so talented... it was a get out of your seat kinda show, with a little bit of a rock concert feeling thrown in. It really just makes you feel happy to be there.
