First of all I%26#39;d like to say that you guys are great for answering all of these questions from visitors planning trips to your city. I%26#39;ve been lurking for the last month or so and finally have a question for which I haven%26#39;t seen an answer yet:
Our flight is scheduled to arrive at JFK on Thursday, Oct 26 at 4:11 p.m. Are we safe to think we can make it to the 8pm Wicked performance? We will probably have only carry-on bags so should be able to make it to the taxi line quickly.
We%26#39;ll be there only 4 nights, and the only tickets available through Ticketmaster are for Thu or Fri. The seat selection is better on Thu and we had planned to take advantage of the late closing of the Met on Fri.
I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll think of more questions before our trip, but wanted to get the tickets soon before they sell out. If it%26#39;s too risky for Thursday, I%26#39;ll go ahead and get them for Fri and plan for the museum another day...
Thanks for your help!
Taxi travel time: JFK to Times Sq/Broadway?
Oops, I forgot to include that the current plan is to stay at the Crowne Plaza Times Square, which according to hopstop is less than a 5 minute walk to the Gershwin. It would be nice to have time to check in %26amp; freshen up/change clothes before we left. How early do we need to be at theater?
Thanks again.

Assuming the flight arrives on time you will have enough time and then some to check in and freshen up before heading to the theater. Drive time to the hotel will not be much more than hour, possibly less, unless there is a major traffic delay. Your major is the flight if there is a significant delay.
You shouldn%26#39;t have any problem with checking into the hotel before the show - plenty of time - IF your flight gets in when it is supposed to. Taxi to mid town shouldn%26#39;t take more than an hour - and perhaps less depending on traffic - you are landing/driving during rush hour.
If you do land on time, 4:15 get out of the gate with luggage and right out to the taxi line, 4:45, drive into the city 5:45 - 6:00 - check in, and then be at the theatre by 7:30. Enjoy. Ta. MMM!
You need not get to the theater at 7:30 unless you have to pick up tickets at the box office. If you already have tickets in hand 7:45 is early enough.
I once planned a trip to arrive around 4:00 into Newark with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels at 8:00 thinking this would be plenty of time. Needless to say, our flight was delayed and we got into Newark at 5:45, in the taxi line (huge) by 6:00 and because of traffic, pulled up to the hotel at 7:45. We checked in and ran to the theater. We arrived approx. 10 minutes late. Luckily they let us in and we loved the show, but.... it was the most stressful trip of my life. If I were you, I wouldn%26#39;t chance it. There is just too much that can go wrong and Wicked is too good to miss.
I have to agree with Francesca on this one.
I would get them for Friday - the Met is Open late Saturday night as well.
The way air travel is these days, unfortunately delays are inevitable.
