question

I think the hotel is the Marroit Marquis in Times Square, next to the MTV building has a revolving resturant.I would like to check it out myself.I think you can just have a drink in there without buying a meal.

question

Yep, it%26#39;s The View atop the Marriott Marquis in Times Square which is the revolving restaurant. You wouldn%26#39;t want to eat a meal there because you can get better food for less money elsewhere, but they do offer a $15 dessert buffet which has been getting compliments here on TA:

I%26#39;m stumped as what the Italian restaurant might be; Balmonte%26#39;s has some pictures of Popes on its walls, but it%26#39;s in Brooklyn.

I agree, just the drink at the Marriot Marquis - or the dessert - sounds neat. You can get much better food and much better prices at many other places. Check out the restaurant sticky on the first page. Don%26#39;t have a clue about the Italian though. Ta. MMM!

The View in the Marriott Marquis is the ONLY revolving restaurant in the city.

As to the Italian, there are probably 30 or more Italian restaurants near the Waldorf. Having photos of the Pope doesn%26#39;t really tell us anything. It would help to know what it looked like inside or which direction from the Waldorf. Fresco is a popular place near there owned by a media savvy family. Felidia is another.

Looking on a map, the San Martin restaurant appears to be the closest Italian to the Waldorf and I don%26#39;t know it.

thank you- i will try and pay a visit to the $15 dessert buffet yum.. and get a drink- how much on average is a pint of beer or bottled alcohol??

My boss said the italian place was run by an elderly man (not that it makes much help lol) thank u all for your help anyways. Also regarding the marriott- do u have to dress to impress just to go to the view restaurant or are you able to go there in just normal casual clothes?

The indicated dress code is ';business casual'; which typically means no jeans, tank tops, flip-flop sandals. and the like. Slacks and a shirt/blouse/polo shirt will be fine.

slacks?? i take thats full length trousers? business casual- erm i aint a business woman-so dont have business type clothes to my name lol- which means the perfect excuse for shopping :o)

';slacks'; is a uni-gender word here :-) given the exchange rate, you might wish to wait %26#39;til you get here to purchase those trousers -- and if you%26#39;re coming in the near ftuture, you can take advantage of summer clearance sales!

im arriving august 29th.. when does the sales start? knowing my luck i will miss them all together.. im loving the exchange rate at the mo.. :o)

For business casual, a pair of khakis and a nice top will do. Also, no sneakers---wear a good pair of walking shoes instead. As for department store sales--they go on all the time.
