Hotel deals NYC, price guide and tips required

We are four girls going to NYC on Nov 1st for 4 nights. We have booked our flights but compared to 2 years ago I am finding hotel prices quite steep. What is a fair price to pay for a room to sleep two

or an apartment to sleep 4? We are looking to stay quite central ie theatre district unless anyone has any better ideas of areas close to good restaurants, shops etc. Is it best to book early or late to get any sort of deals? in Nov 04 i paid 500 pounds for 4 nights in the milford plaza which was a two double bedded room. This year we dont mind paying more for a better hotel but on most websites even the Milford Plaza is double what we paid then.

Yes, rates have skyrocketed. I would contact the agency in London www.apartments2book.com They have contracts for serviced apts/hotels and get good rates. See what they can offer you.

When you go to the website and chose NYC, you%26#39;ll see a map with numbers. I%26#39;ve made a ';cheat sheet'; here with the names of the properties and their numbers on that site. YOu can read reviews here. All of these are very well regarded. You can also compare prices by getting a quote directly from the hotels as well. Word is, apts 2 book is usually cheaper.

I have been offered a two bed apt in Murray Hill for about 550 dollars a night. Would you recommend this as a central location? What sort of restaurants etc are nearby? Is traffic noise a problem here? 39th street i think.

Grand Central is only 3 blocks away, traffic noise can be a problem depending on where you are (on the corner of an Avenue) and what floor. There are enough restaurants near there and there is good subway access.

Murray Hill is a nice area. Not touristy, but easy access to most things There are lots of good restaurants and bars on 2nd and 3rd Avenues. There%26#39;s also movie theatres, grrocery stores, etc.

Murray Hill is also nicknamed ';Curry Hill'; because there is a concentration of Southeast Asian restaurants, sari shops, herb shops, etc.

You%26#39;ll be within walking distance of Grand Central, the ESB and 34th Street shopping, Chrysler Building, Gramercy Park. The closest subway stop is 42nd and Lexington - #4,5,6 and 7 lines.
