On average rooms are about $200.00+/night. About how much were you looking to spend? Under $200/nt you%26#39;ll probably have to share a bathroom with other guests. Only cheap lodging I know of is Jersey or Nyack. www.frommers.com/bookstore/0764576488.html That%26#39;s a website for a book called New York City on $90 a day. They have some good priced places there, and explain details such as stairs, shared rooms, neighborhood info.

Run, do not walk, to travelzoo.com. There are several specials on there that would fit the bill including the very first one, the Hudson for $169/night. (Room will likely be small but it should work for you.)

Let me know what you think.

Also, I recommend CALLING on these specials rather than just reserving online. I recently called on a travelzoo deal for a trip out to the southwest and got some perks by calling. These deals go fast, so you%26#39;ll need to act quickly.

For 1 night, if you wouldn%26#39;t mind sharing a bed, I%26#39;d try bidding on Priceline. Bid 4* hotels only. midtown east, midtown west or upper midtown are all within walking distance of Bryant Park. You should be able to get something for $100-140 plus tax. But make sure you read biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com and get them to help you construct a bid. You should book something cancellable (maybe from the list below) in case you don%26#39;t get something on Priceline.

Other options if you don%26#39;t want to bid:

travelzoo.com has a special at the Mansfield. If you share a king sized bed, the room is $199 plus tax (a queen is $179) The Mansfield%26#39;s very close to Bryant Park (2 blocks)

Another travelzoo special at the Muse Hotel for $189 for a king room.

On quikbook, the Salisbury Hotel on west 57th st. has a room with 2 doubles for $143. Not as close as the others, but still walkable.

The Holiday Inn Express is close to Bryant Park. Rates on their website are $189 for a king bed or $207 for 2 beds.

Any of these are closer than the 2 you mention.

Share a bed? Are you serious? That%26#39;s a joke, right? Ok maybe I%26#39;ll skip my stay overnight NYC trip..between that and the bed bugs story on dateline Im getting frightened...It%26#39;s only a 3 hour drive I can handle that...

I meant share a bed with each other!!! It sounds like she%26#39;s coming with a friend rather than a husband but I could be wrong. I meant the prices I was quoting were for a room with ONE bed not TWO.

Ok now Im embarrassed! Lol Well I saw how you had to share bathrooms.. thought maybe you were talking like a hostel.. I%26#39;ve heard stories from Euro friends of mine.. Now I feel like a real Adirondack mtn hick haha. We dont%26#39; even have hotels with only 1 bed here unless it%26#39;s a honeymoon suite! I%26#39;ll just shut up now.. Thanks for the great tips on hotels!

Thanks for the info so far.. We were going to try priceline to see if we could do better on Price we are both midwesterners and these prices are killing us for a one night stay but I guess theres no way around it.. If we would be willing to share a bed and not adverse to sharing a bath with other rooms any suggestions on those types of hotels...

We will be booking in NJ for the rest of our trip maybe we will be more successful on prices there.. . We stayed at the Crowne plaza in Secaucus last year same time but the prices this year are much different.. will keep fingers crossed.
